Chinese National Day: in Hong Kong

Tonight was the night of the national day of China. This is one of three large events in Hong Kong, the others being Chinese New Year in February and Hong Kong’s day of return to China 1st of July each year.

National day means that all everyone has one day of in Hong Kong, and one week in mainland China, but it also means a fabulous display of fireworks over the Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong. Some “small” fireworks at a price tag of 7million HKD (or 1HKD per person), which is closely watched by more than 1 million people on each side of the harbour. Streets are closed off to allow everyone get the best view over the harbour, and yet it was almost impossible getting close to the waterfront. There were people everywhere…

Before I went to see the fireworks with Mathew and Christina, we all went to a Chinese restaurant in one of the new office towers on Kowloon. It had a spectacular view from the 10th floor overlooking the harbour. At 8:00 clock we saw the daily light display over the harbour while eating, and thereafter we left for the streets and the fireworks.

It was quite spectacular as it lasted for 20minutes… I will let the picture say the rest:
